Emmanuel Day School Uniform Policy

The Emmanuel Day School, in following with many private and public schools, has a uniform dress code.

We believe that children are here to learn and discover. It becomes very distracting for some students who are more mindful of their character-style shirts, etc. than to what we are here to do. Also, we feel this makes life very easy in the morning at home where arguments over clothing choices often start our days! If your child is having difficulty with this at home, please tell them that it is MISS DAWN'S policy and that I will explain to them why we wear a uniform to school. (Most of the time that helps quite a bit!)

Summer Attire
(September to October 31st, April 1st- June):

Tan Khaki/ Navy Blue/Gray bottoms: long bermuda-style shorts, slacks, skirt, jumper.
White collared shirt, Polo or oxford style, short sleeved.
Navy Blue/Gray/Red Sweater (cardigan, pullover, vest), if needed.
Lace up shoes or Crocs/other Teva-style sandals are okay.

Winter Attire
(November 1st-March 31st):

Navy Blue/Gray/Black bottoms: long pants, skirt/jumper with tights or knee socks.
White Long-sleeved shirt, polo or oxford style or turtleneck.
Navy Blue/Gray/Red Sweater (cardigan, pullover, vest).
Appropriate tie-up shoes, sneakers or loafers.

General Uniform Guidelines

Shoes should be tie up, or loafer style, preferably with a back for support of their bones whiles moving. Crocs or other Teva-style sandals are fine. Flip-Flops for children are never a good idea due to tripping/falling.

Hair for girls should be styled neatly in a pony tail, braids, headband, or off the face. We ask that very fancy hairstyles be reserved for special occasions. Keeping track of bows and hair accessories only contributes to your child’s distraction during our busy day!

Belts on very little boys and girls may be disregarded, as bathroom issues are still a bit delicate.

Ties will be loaned to the Pre-K for the school year to be worn on special occasions during our school year. This will include school pictures, chapel days, and shows. The ties will be turned in after Graduation.

We are not particular as to where you purchase your uniform. Clothing materials should be easily cleaned, whites can be bleached. 2 uniform combinations per season can be sufficient for most children. We have found the following locations to be excellent sources for uniforms as they all seem to have similar jumper syles and bermuda-style shorts and pants in navy and khaki:
