Emmanuel Day School Illness & Medicine Policy

Children do get sick! We understand that you may have daycare issues, but children who have a fever, vomiting, diarrhea, extreme coughing, or are symptomatic of an illness coming on will be asked to stay at home to rest.

Children who become ill at school with any of the above will be brought down to our office area as the parent/guardian and or caregiver will be phoned for early dismissal.

An antibiotic drug needs to be in your child’s body for a minimum of 24 hours before the child may return to school.

We do not administer over the counter products at the Emmanuel Day School. Your child may receive a prescribed drug by a staff member at the Emmanuel Day School as long as the container is clearly marked by the pharmacy with the child’s name and dosage instructions from the Doctor. Parents are to ask a staff member for a permission slip to sign for administering medication when bringing the child back to school. We ask though, whenever possible, children receive medications at home.

ALL Allergy Epi-Pens, breathing devices, etc.. Need to be here when your child is here.
We would prefer a separate set to be kept here from beginning to end of the year if possible. They should be in a clear/transparent Tupperware-style container with name in Permanent Black Marker on top. They are to be kept in the office. It will contain the apparatus, the instructions, and all doctor information. We do not joke around about this and will not have a child here without his kit so please be overly cautious when it comes to the emergency kit.

Children who miss school due to sickness or time off/vacations will not be refunded.

Please help us in keeping our students and staff well through out the school year by following the Illness procedures.
