Emmanuel Day School Food Policy |
The Emmanuel Day School will provide a healthy, energizing daily snack.
This will consist of items such as crackers and cheese, fruit, pretzels,
etc and 100% Juice. We believe that children should enjoy the same
snack as their peers. We will be ever mindful of allergy concerns
and realize that the family will provide snack for a child who cannot
partake in the provided snack. If you would ever like to help with
donation and/ or snack service please feel free to inquire.
We encourage lunches to be nutritious and well-rounded. The Emmanuel
Day School would prefer snacks, drinks, and sandwiches |

that do not contain artificial colors
or lots of sugar, as these foods are not good for our bodies, or our
minds. Please avoid foods that are in hard-to-open packaging (Go-Gurts,
etc.). As seemingly convenient, these products do not encourage children
to be independent. Many children have not yet physically mastered
the ability to open and manipulate such containers. The Emmanuel Day
School prefers milk or water for lunch as juice is provided daily
with snack.
Milk/Water Lunch: EDS has a Milk Money system for
children in having school provided Milk/Water at lunchtime. There
is a sign-up sheet next to the school sign-in every morning for White
milk, Chocolate Milk or bottled water. The fee is .60 cents per day.
It is based on the honor system and can be handled daily, weekly or
monthly. The “Milk Moolah” can is located at the sign-in
station for your deposit. If you choose to pack your child’s
milk or water please be sure to place a thermal pack in his lunchbox,
as we do not refrigerate lunches.
Pizza Friday: Every Friday…”Fun Friday”
as we call it is an optional Pizza Lunch Day. The cost is $5 for Pizza,
a fruit, some other treats, and Milk or Water. All monies offset the
cost of the lunch and are used as fundraising money for special events.
The kids love it and we have had GREAT success with this in the past!
The sign-up is located at the sign-in area. Please leave your $5 on
the clipboard or you can make a check out to EDS.
Thank you for your patronage.
Snack Donations: This year we are asking that each
family donate snack once a month in an effort to keep costs down,
and continue with the quality programming and staffing. We hope that
this will not be a hardship for many families, but please see us if
it is. We ask that you bring your snack contribution at the beginning
of the month or let us know which day specifically you would like
to bring snack that month (ex: Birthday). Snacks that work are Goldfish,
Animal Crackers, most Crackers of any sort, cheese, grapes, apple
slices, vanilla wafers, etc. We try to reserve more special snacks
for the occasional birthday celebration days. EDS will always provide
100% Juice and water. There are 30 students per day.
