Meet the Emmanuel Day School Chaplain |
Born
in Doncaster, England, Fr. Greg is the son of an Anglican priest.
He attended Harvard Divinity School and Virginia Theological Seminary
and was ordained in 1992. After working for three years as Assistant
to the Rector and then Priest-in-Charge at Calvary Church in Summit,
NJ, he received a call to serve as the Rector of Emmanuel Church,
beginning his work at Emmanuel in October 1995.
During his tenure at Emmanuel Church, Fr. Greg has worked to incorporate
children and youth into the full life of the parish. The Emmanuel
Day School is part of his vision that the whole child is important
to God and that intellectual learning, spiritual formation, and physical
and social development go hand-in-hand.
Fr. Greg also is passionate about outreach. He believes that God calls
us to share from our abundance and to reach out to those whose basic
needs are not being met. He has a strong interest in the United Nations’
Millennium Development Goals, particularly in the elimination of extreme
poverty throughout the world. He is engaged in a doctoral program
at Virginia Theological Seminary, specializing in congregational and
ministry development. Ethical, behavioral, social, and biblical implications
of the Millennium Development Goals are at the heart of his doctoral
thesis.
